Frequent questions

Coaching, what is it?

ICF (International Coaching Federation), of which I am a member, defines coaching as a “partnership” between Coach and client which, through a creative process, stimulates reflection, inspiring them to maximize their personal and professional potential.

What is the objective of a coaching journey?

The goal is to focus on your potential (your ability, or unrealised potential) by leveraging your strengths, uncovering what holds you back, and targeting the areas you are most interested in addressing to help you achieve your goals more effectively.

What is the difference between coaching and therapy?

The difference between coaching and therapy is their focus. The focus of coaching is to help clients identify, clarify, and achieve future-oriented goals, while the focus of therapy is to alleviate emotional distress that often stems from the past (ICF, 2016).

How long does the coaching process take?

The time frame can vary greatly and depends on a wide range of factors: your goals, your commitment and openness to change, your ability to introspect, your circumstances, how quickly and thoughtfully you complete tasks at home and other unique factors.

Coaching journeys can end after a few months of success and some can last a lifetime. When the journey end after a few months, it can often be because the client has achieved their goals.
